The Three Sales Skills You Need to Succeed

If you work in sales, you know that there is a specific set of skills you need in order to meet your targets and reach your goals.

According to Sharon Michaels, business coach and writer for Forbes, there are three skills which will allow you to rise above the rest.

1) Sincerity

“Listening sincerely and without an agenda. The buying process is not about you and your wants and needs, it is about the customer.”

Understanding the customer’s needs will allow you to suggest products that best suit their needs. On top of that, a professional relationship can only be built if the client feels respected and listening is the first step. As Zig Ziglar said it best, “You can have everything in life that you want if you just give enough other people what they want.”

2) Ethics

“Don’t talk someone into something, allow them to make their own buying decision. Doing what is right for everyone involved is the ethical thing to do.”

Having the product knowledge to clearly present and describe your product will allow the customer to see it’s benefit and they will (hopefully) decide on their own to purchase it. Nothing good can come from tricking your clients. Again, it goes back to respect.

3) Asking

“You can serve your client/customer best by finding out what they want, need and expect from what you are offering.”

Ask questions, listen and make a conclusion based on what you know, not what you assume. The customer knows themselves better than you do and understanding them will help ensure you both walk away from a deal pleased with the result.

Keep these elements in mind, and watch your sales skills soar in 2018.
