Hamilton's Trade Program for At-Risk Youth

Mohawk College in Hamilton is set to receive a $600,000 provincial grant to connect at-risk youth with in-demand jobs in the skilled trades.

This grant comes a time when there is simply not enough workers to fill the unmet employment need in the trades.

« The college will offer employer-driven training through its City School initiative, which offers tuition-free college courses and workshops taught by Mohawk faculty.”

The program will help young people develop valuable skills which can lead them to finding worthwhile employment in an in-demand field. Furthermore, these youth will have the opportunity to develop confidence in their own abilities—something often lacking in youth, and especially in those considered to be “at risk.”

What an exciting opportunity for these students to join such an exciting field!
